From Karen Fyke:  My grandson Alex is indomitable. He has a 1961 Pfaff sewing machine that I've taught him to use. He found an old pantsuit that belonged to his Grandmother Bill and decided it was the perfect fabric for a deerstalker hat. He's a real Sherlock Holmes fan and loves dressing in costume, so he set about to make his own hat. He got the pattern online and the lining is a cotton drape from the same grandmother. All I provided was a piece of buckram for the bills and flaps. There's no question but that he made the whole thing himself, and it came out really well. His only problem was sewing through the many layers at the 'corners' with a 70 needle. He needs to invest in some 80s. LOL
Thought you'd like to see what can happen when you blend a sewing machine with someone who doesn't know enough to be afraid to try!
