September 15th at the North Allen Branch Library is our next scheduled day to sew for the charities we support. We do this because it is a worthwhile cause and, as a guild, ASG requires that we give back to our communities in order to keep our non-profit status. So as a reminder, any sewing you do for charity of any kind, please keep records of your hours and submit them to our Vice President, Martha Gamble.
On the 15th, we will be supporting those women who have breast cancer by sewing anti-ouch pouches. This is the brainchild of member Deon Maas and the need in Peoria is great. We donate approximately 75 of these a month to OSF and Methodist.
YOU are needed. The kits are cut out by members Pat West and Deon Mass (thank you both) so please bring your sewing machines, your good humor, and your lunch! I have said in this space before, what a fun day it is and everyone leaves feeling so good about what has been accomplished. If you cannot bring your sewing machine, please bring shears (not your best pair) to cut hook and loop tape or an iron and an ironing surface. Directions also have to be folded and kits assembled so there are a few jobs that don’t require a machine.
Deon is heading up this day in my absence. Please feel free to call her with questions. 309- 645-4911.
Join your ASG friends on September 15th at 10 am at the North Allen Branch of the Peoria Public Library. The day usually ends at around 3. Feel free to stay the whole time or pop in for part of it.
